4/11/2013 Amicalola State Park to Stover Creek Shelter – 11.6 miles

Rolled out of Atlanta and made it to the falls at around noon. Cody saw me off and I thanked him for the wonderful stay. Its so good to have good friends. Beautiful day out. 75 80 or so. The park was beautiful and the falls magnificent. I’ll tell you what though. Stairs suck. Each and every one was screaming “you’re out of shape you moron’. But once I hit the top it got easier. Georgia is a nice state so far. Great trails with nice wide cleared paths. A lot easier than Maine was. Passed the section that had the controlled burn from last year. New growth already popping its head up.

On top of Springer I signed my name and then spent a time looking through the finishes of Sobos from ’12. So many names and people I remember. I teared up reading their last entries. They all did it and did it well. It means something. Sometimes it means even more later on, accomplishing something this grandiose.

It made me happy to see them all having finished. More than almost anything else before
